The Single Malt Scotch Tasters of Reno, Chapter II, was founded in October, 2006.  It is the sister club to the original Single Malt Scotch Tasters of Reno which was founded by Bruce Douglas.  Details are avaiable on their website:

Our chapter consists of a diverse group of individuals who share an interest in Single Malt Scotch Whisky.  We meet monthly to evaluate and enjoy various whiskys.

Craig Sande
Craig helped organize the Second Chapter of the Single Malt Scotch Tasters of Reno.  He has been a fan of fine single malt scotch for many years.  His hobbies include Amateur Radio, mountain biking, hunting, and skiing.  He had the opportunity to travel to Scotland in 2008 visiting Islay, Highlands and Skye.  It was a memorable trip that he would enjoy experiencing again in the future.

Arthur W. Johnson
Art Johnson is the retired Director Emeritus of Fleischmann Planetarium at UNR. He now enjoys pursuing a second career as a professional musician. He is Director of Music at Trinity Episcopal Church and teaches organ at UNR as well as privately. He is still into astronomy, as well, and enjoys casual stargazing. He'll also tune your piano!

Clark Harrison
Clark has an interest in fine single malts, be he also enjoys wine tasting.  He is an avid fly fisherman and spans the globe in search of fishing challenges.

Edith Gaw
Edith Gaw, born and raised in Switzerland, came to the US in 1984, after living in Indonesia.  She pursued several teaching degrees in California and Missouri and has become a very successful demonstration teacher for the Guided Language Acquisition Design program in Washoe County School District.  Hiking, running, and reading are serious pursuits for Edith, and her passion for good whisky is, while newfound, also serious.

Julie Meyer
Julie is a senior research scientist and an avid skier and likes to garden as well. Julie is originally from Michigan.

Russ Meyer
Russ loves to ski and fly fish, and got "serious" about whisky after visiting Scotland in 2005. He was born on the east coast, migrated to the Midwest, went to college at Michigan State where he met his wife, Julie, and ended up in Reno by way of Maine and Missouri. He and Julie are flatwater kayakers, and Russ recently took up whitewater kayaking and is trying to perfect his Eskimo roll.

Jim Milligan
Jim discovered Scotch in 2006 on a tour of Scotland's whisky distilleries and has been an avid fan since.

Rob Smith
Rob has a passion for single malt whisky.  He has a good nose and palate, always providing exceptionally insightful descriptions during tasting sessions.

Paul Vitkus
Paul has been a Renoite for the last 27 years, formerly from Chicago.  Besides enjoying fine scotch, Paul is a scuba diver and both an underwater and topside photographer, downhill skier, swimmer and dabbles in the arts.  He enjoys travel, fine dining and wine, music and the cinema.

Scott Wiley (Member since June 2016)

In memoriam...
David Rocovits
David was an avid fan of the Borgward autos: Isabella, Goliath, and Lloyd.  He enjoyed pistol shooting as a sport, gardening, and photography.  He had the travel bug his entire life and almost anually traveled to foreign lands.  He took a very active roll in raising money for the Vietnam Friendship Village which helps to rehabilitate children whose DNA had been damaged by the dioxines present in agent orange.  He grew fond of single malt scotch after a trip to Scotland and it became his favorite beverage.  He passed away unexpectedly in 2012 and has been sorely missed.
